?Yes. The Ministry of External Affairs has made all the initial passport application processes online. So, you will have to go through the online application process to get your Passport.
How to apply for a passport online in India?
Step 1:
?️Visit the official website of Passport Seva on your computer – passportindia.gov.in.
Step 2:
?An existing user can log in using the login ID & password created and used earlier.
?But, if you are a first-time user, register to create a new account by clicking on ‘New User Registration on the home page.
Step 3:
? Enter your user ID & password, then solve the captcha code to verify you are not a robot and click on ‘Register‘.
Step 4:
? Login with your newly created registered login ID in the Passport Seva Online Portal.
Step 5:
✅ After the Login, choose from the options provided to click on the link – ‘Fresh passport/passport reissue‘
Step 6:
? Fill out the required details carefully in the application form and
?Submit by clicking on the ‘Upload e-form link’.
Step 7:
? Next, go on the ‘View Saved/submitted Application‘ screen and click the ‘Pay and Schedule Appointment‘ link to Make the Payment and ?Schedule an Appointment.
Step 8:
?Use the ‘Print Application Receipt‘ link for a printout of the application receipt.
?The receipt has the important application reference number or appointment number, which must be kept safe for future reference.
After completing the application and payment process, you must visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO) as per the scheduled appointment with the original documents for verification.
Please note: While applying for the fresh issuance category, you must ensure that you have never held a passport of the used category in the past, i.e., a Diplomatic Passport, Official or Ordinary Passport.

What happens in a Passport appointment?
?You must arrive on time at the selected Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) as per your appointment.
✅Stand in a queue for the first verification of all your docs.
❌If your docs don’t fulfil the requirements, you’ll be sent back after being informed which document is missing or faulty.
*️⃣ If your initial verification is successful, you’ll be given a token number and allowed further inside.
?You will then have to pass through windows A, B, & C for primary scrutiny with biometric and other verifications.
✅Then, you’ll be given a token stating the appointment is successful, and the file is ok to proceed for the final stage, which is the Police verification.
⏳After about a week…
??♂️You will get an intimation on the phone regarding your appointment for Police Verification, where you must visit the Police Station for the same.
? After the satisfactory verification by the officials, issuing a passport will take 7 to 14 working days. So, your passport will arrive at your residence within two weeks by Speed Post.
